this little guy i found a few years ago on the back lot of my grandparents home - way back under a forsythia bush (yellow bell) - when i saw the four inch high iris and ask the new owner if i could dig it - he replied, "go ahead, i already mowed it down a couple of times" - - - i dug - brought home and replanted - before the summer was over – the person who mows my lawn - mowed it down, and to make matters worse the ran the wheel of the riding lawn mower over it and flattened it - - - i dug it up again- cleaned it up and then planted it in a pot - it survived and grew - - - this year a moved it to a special palace in the new garden - better sun - better soil - but bad news again - came out one morning and the voles had almost consumed it - it was down to one little green flag – and as a result of tender care - we now have six flags – with a bit of luck, patience and tender care - maybe one day a bloom
all of my grandmothers iris are nameless and i have spent a bit of time renaming those who bloom - this little one will be named "Camp Perry" this iris is a fighter - and i will name the iris in honor of the naval base my father served at during world war two - - - mr toad

| What a great story! I hope it blooms for you. Congrats on keeping it alive through all of that. I have killed plants with much less before. :() |
