No flowers

My friend gave me some iris that she had divided. I planted them about 3 years ago and they have never had a flower. Any ideas? Should I just take them out and compost?

What type of iris? Did your friend give you planting instructions?

Assuming they are bearded irises, there could be numerous reasons, but my first 'guess' would be that they are planted too deep, and the second, not enough sun.

If they are bearded irises, you might read through the list at the link below.
