Tall bearded iris rhizome/bulb

| Is there such a creature as a tall bearded iris bulb? I have been growing iris for years and have never heard of one. My friend and I bought three t/b iris from the same seller on ebay. We received bulbs which look like a dutch iris bulb?. They look as if they have come from a package of bulbs purchased at Walmart. We were assured that they are indeed tb bulbs. They certainly weren't dug from someones yard(no dirt). I must be 100% sure that I am correct. Your help will be appreciated. |

| Nope, tb rhizomes don't look anything like dutch iris bulbs. To be optimistic, maybe the seller goofed. Try e-mailing them a picture of the bulbs, and hope for the best. |

| You are so considerate to answer. My friend already contacted the seller and was told that the bulbs were what she paid for. I won't even bother writing to someone who knows so little about the product she is selling. I don't argue. Thankfully, I received something, just not what I paid for and I am not out much money. |

| Ebay is not one of the best places on line to buy irises, unless all you are wanting is some color and don't care what color or name they are. There is a good chance they won't be as described and one has no recourse when the bloom incorrectly next year, provided they even bloom the first year. It seems several iris sellers on Ebay don't know that TB irises are rhizomes. They are called corms, bulbs, and roots, besides being called rhizomes. Might you have a pic of the bulbs you received? Could you point us to the auction? We could maybe verify for sure that what they were attempting to sell is incorrect, and then you could leave feedback stating so. Sue |

| Sue, thanks for your response. I am a 68 yr. young computer challenged grandmother. I will try to get my daughter to take pictures of the bulbs and post them. I have already left feedback and so has another seller. I have been pleased with the size of the rhizomes I have received from other sellers. I was trying for fragrance from this seller. Ebay should be aware of the problem. If you don't know your product, don't sell it!!! |

| Thanks for the link, Sue; Most of those prices are *horrible*, you can get the advertised irises for less from mail-order nurseries such as Blue J Iris or Argyle Acres, & I didn't see one photo of an actual "bulb" (or rhizome), just close-up photos that probably were copied from the Wal-Mart package. |
