Is it ABSOLUTELY Too Late?

| Schreiners won't ship any later than Sept. 15 to the Chicagoland area so I assume it's too late but I just planted some that I had to dig up and 'clean' because of a major borer infestation - couldn't get to it before this weekend! So - what will happen? Should I cover them when there is a frost warning and then uncover - we'll likely get an Indian Summer in October so it could be nice enough until November - right?
