Hmm, aquawise, interesting typo there in your last post. Did you mean BUT, BOY, or BUY? Because it sounds like you're getting mentally prepared to spend some money...

All I have on my wish list now is

    Scottish Reel
    Walking on Air
    Daughter of Stars
    Bayberry Candle

Pretty amazing, huh? A short list. I have run out of room and I don't have the energy to kill grass, build up beds, and lay new sprinkler lines for next year. Maybe after the existing beds are really filled in...

Well I had a brain fade this year. I've been waiting for a box of irises from Napa Iris. But apparently I did'nt place the order. Maybe my common since got the better of me after placing 4 other, rather large orders :)

    Pagents Gown
    Spice Trader
    Parties Over
    Rhinelander
    Time Zone

I need to see some of next year's introductions before I make my list. This weekend is the 'Big Dig' at my local club. We have 215 varieties cleaned and marked, so far. I adopted 10 orphans (rhizomes too small to go into the sale)that will take at least 2 years to mature to blooming size.
    Codicil
    Tripod
    Harvest Maid
    Mist On the Mountain
    Humoresque
    Jesse's Song
    Florentine Marble
    Plum Pretty Whiskers
    Imperial Pink
    Wimple

That's how hopelessly hooked on irises I am.

I am going to go to Shrieners the first few days they open next year and make my pics from the real early bloomers. Then I am going to start a collection of rebloomers so I will need to go in the middle of the month and the last few days of their open gardens too make my picks of those. Like I need any more excuses to make multiple trips down there while the gardens are open;)

I ordered some, "LATE" From Schrieners. The first of Sept. and I got them in the mail on the 16th!!! No subs and 2 free ones. "WOW" they were huge and had buds for next year on them. I am Impressed. Never ordered from them before!! BUT!!! I will from now on. The most I paid was $7.50. Ebay is that much and You my not get the ones you bid on and it might take years before you get a flower. I am sold on SCHRIENERS !!!!

  • madeyna

I think I saw Devils Riot at Lowes a few days ago. Shreiners really are worth the monney as long as you order enough to get the 50% discount. You can buy one and generally have a clump by the second year.

  • hosenemesis

    I caved.
I ordered more from Horton Iris this week.

    Bayberry Candle
    Classic Look
    Ringo (more)
    Mulberry Echo
    Grand Circle

I change my mind each week. I want them all.

    Renee

  • Nancy

I have Classic Look & just got Ringo. I think Classic Look is one of the better looking blue/white plicatas,& I seem to have several in my garden. I got Ringo recently, thinking at the time it was a rebloomer. After looking it up again, apparently I was mistaken.
I really like Bayberry Candle, the name suits it. Grand Circle is pretty too, reminds me of one I have by another name. Mulberry Echo is a rebloomer isn't it? So nice to have those late blooms. I keep thinking I should be seeing some buds shooting up from mine, but nothing so far.

  • hosenemesis

Yeah, I had Classic Look, tore it out and gave it away, missed it badly, tried a number of similar reblooming purple-blue and white plicatas, and tore them out.
I'm going back to Classic Look because it is tall, ruffled, beautifully branched, and crisp, and it looks spectacular with foxgloves. I'd rather have perfection than rebloom in that particular spot.

I also heard that Ringo reblooms, which is why I got it. I should have talked to you first, ngraham. Grand Circle and Mulberry Echo are supposed to be rebloomers too. There are even reports that Bayberry Candle has rebloomed in California- but it's fine with me if it doesn't. I'm going to use in in a "landscape" spot, not in my flower garden.

I'm doing the great rebloom experiment here, and I will post all of the winners and losers. Right now, I have Feedback reblooming (not really, it did not bloom this Spring) and New Leaf reblooming for the second time this year (it's not a rebloomer). Go figure.
    Renee
