Yes. You may lose bloom but after they settle in to their new bed they will get back on schedule.

Or you could move them right after bloom. If you want to do it during bloom, try for a large root ball to prevent instant bloom wilt.

If you can manage the gumption to take them up now and stick them in pots, that would be better. Should be no problem to overwinter them in pots in Maryland. Just tuck the pots up against the garage or the house and pile pine needles or some other kind of loose, non-matting mulch over the tops for the winter. You can then plant them whenever you get around to your new bed in the spring.

I think iris will pretty much survive anything you can dish out. flood,drought,shaded and crowded by crab grass,mowed, tilled. I've divided in fall and summer. Now when they will bloom is a different matter. They're just too easy, I'm beginning to think of them as easier to grow than weeds! lol!

Could anyone tell me if a German Iris would survive in Maryland? I really want to plant one, but i'm not sure it will survive. I have done reaserch, but i'm still skeptical.
