Chocolate scented iris

Me again!

We have an iris that smells of chocolate. Has anyone else come across it? I think it is called Burgandy Brown TB, Gibson 1978. I have found the details on the net and the pictures look very familiar I just wanted to confirm I am correct.

Thank you once again!

I have heard of a few that smell like chocolate- one is Death by Chocolate. Can you post some photos here? That would help people give you a positive ID.

I have found Burgandy Brown on the AIS website and the pictures here look very like the flower I remember smelling. Can anyone else confirm whether Burgandy Brown smells like chocolate?

Here is a link that might be useful: Burgandy Brown on the AIS website

You know, another place that may have info is the BlueJ online catalog. You can search by color there, which I have found to be very useful, and they may have some notes on fragrance. They don't have this iris, though.

I don't have an answer for you but was interested in the color description.

...S. greyed orange with violet blush and subdued yellow ground

Wow. Who would of thunk?

RE: Chocolate scented iris

It is a lvoely iris and the scent is very real ... gives me a chocolate craving everytime I smell one!

I have asked my mother-in-law and she says this is the correct one.

When she first told us the chocolate one was Burgandy Brown I thought she was describing the colour - didn't realise that is actually what it is called.
