reblooming iris - now?

I haven't posted here for quite a while because I have been busy making new daylily beds and remodeling the garden. When I was out there 2 weeks ago, I noticed that both Immortality, a new one that never flowered this summer, and Forever Violet were both sending up new rebloom stalks. FV was sending up her third stalk this fall. A few days ago we had a hard frost. The iris buds don't look like they were damaged but I was wondering if there is a chance they will flower yet? How hardy are the iris buds? We are heading into a few more days of nice weather so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Marg

It's possible they will open. If they are very close to blooming and you expect another frost that night you can cut them and bring them inside to bloom. Some people report success with putting a sock over the stalks at night when frost is expected.
