Such terrible anxiety!!

I've posted on the forum regarding my upcoming move to my new house, however I'm in a state of anxiety and would like some assurance from my garden web friends!

I live in zone 6, NJ and yesterday, I dug up almost all of my irises as I am moving to my new home this Thursday. For the majority of my irises, I left on the ball of dirt surrounding the root system. My plan is to replant my precious iris the day I move in. I know it's December and it really isn't the best idea...but I really do not have a choice. Out of my entire garden, I am only taking my iris and truly couldn't part with them. These iris are very large and won't fit in any of my pots, so I've got them in cardboard boxes for the move.

The temp in NJ has been between 45 and 30...sometimes into the 20s at night. Do you think if I mulch them well just for the winter they will survive?? Thanks for help!!
