Here, bearded irises are evergreen, but they won't bloom for maybe 2 more months.

My stalk turned out to be the old, old purple with light beards. Thought I'd rid myself of it? Not.

What is your favorite color of bloom to see at this time of year (of those you have) ?

Irisgal, I don't have much of a selection. Today in the gloom of the rain Total Recall looked the prettiest, but when there's a lot of yellow and brown foliage it gets lost. At those times I really like the blue-purple of Feedback next to the lime-green acorus.

Yesterday I stripped all of the leaves off of the HT roses and cleaned up one of the beds, and it really let the irises strut their stuff. Frequent Flyer has the most blooms and looked good once I cleaned out the yellow and brown leaves. I think they will be frozen by tomorrow am, though.

I was wondering if you would chose white. That pervasive small purple didn't do much for me and altho whites are not my favorite I thought they might be a great choice for this time of year.

Irisgal- I'm going to finish removing the foliage from the roses this week and the only things in bloom will be the white callas and the white Frequent Flyer. At this time of year it should be really bare, but pretty- all white and green. If the irises hold up until I'm done with the clean-up, I'll post a photo.
