George's Japanese Garden website shows a good 'full'-moon gate.

Hi rockstar.
If you look into Chinise garden books, instead of Japanese garden books, you will find more moon gates in Chinese Garden book. .......................mike

I have a picture of this absolutely gorgeous moon gate that is made of stacked stone. Sounds weird, but its setting and the perfection of the stone laying is beautiful.

A stone mason who works for my husband told me it wasn't impossible at all. It's made with a wooden frame on the inside.

I want one. If you'd happen to like to see it, email me and I'll scan it in for you. Christine at EveningsFall dot com.

I realize this is a day late and maybe a dollar short, but I promised you a picture of this gate. I don't know why I like it so much, but I think it's the smoothness of the stone on the inside of the circle.

Hope it gives you ideas,
Christine

Here's a moon gate made from laminated wood. It's in "Ortho's All About Creating Japanese Gardens."
