my garden after the rain storms

The rains and winds have ended for the moment. My Japanese moss garden is now visible after the Japanese maple leaves have been blown away, leaving several gaping holes in the green moss carpet. I want to go back for repairs and need to see if anyone has ever gone about this process of filling the gaping holes, averaging 1 - 3 inches in diameter. The carpet spreads over 200 square feet and is quite healthy but I really want to plug the holes. Black river stones have been used in the past but any ideas would be appreciated.

JOJG had an article a few months ago about techniques for patching moss. The article talked about using charcoal to fill in the holes. I don't know if that makes any sense or not.

Douglas, I am not sure if this will help but Moss Acres has a site with a water retention slurry formula. I assume you want the moss to fill in as quickly as possible maybe this will help.

Anyone trying to start large areas of moss or moss on lanterns might give it a try.

Cheers Jando
