I'm trying to find out the name of this rare tree. I've only came accross this one a couple of times online, but never with the name of it. Can anyone help?

It's pruned to look like that. Probably something common like Chamaecyparis obtusa or C. pisifera. When I click to enlarge I get a Photobucket page without the picture.

Looks like Chamaecyparis obtusa to me. And as bboy says, it's been pruned to attain that amazing shape.

Check out the Lars Anderson Bonsai Collection describing Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Chabo-hiba' in octopus style at the Arnold Arboretum.

Here is a link that might be useful: Arnold Arboretum hinoki
