Can you help me prune this Maple? (See Pics)

Hi:
New to pruning trees, and just planted this Japanese Maple (Emporer 1, Monrovia). Has pride of place, right next to our front door. Would like it's shape to have some interest. Any reason it couldn't cut the vertical branch out (do cut "A")? There are intersecting braches (green circles), so something has to go.

My Maple

Monrovia page for Emporer I

Thanks!

Hi,
It certainly needs prunning, a lot of those side branches want to be off ,but cannot really tell by the photo as you cannot make all the branches out.

Hi,
If you want to prune it, you must not prune in Spring to avoid excessive bleed!!. You can visit this website: www.mountainmaples.com. It is a good website that show you how to take care and prune the maple. Bonhe
