 o
choosing japanese maple

I am looking for a full sun, red/purple leaved tree to about 13-20 feet. This is by the front entrance and in front of a big window so it needs to be somewhat spreading and graceful without being bushy, a specimen. Some thoughts I have already are Suminagashi, Okagami, and Emperor I. Also in the running are Purple Ghost, Moonfire, Nuresagi, Novum, and Ohsushidare. Any thoughts or other suggestions?

Thanks,
Amy

RE: choosing japanese maple

Hi Amy,
You might look for Azuma murasaki (The Purple of the East). It has an open and wide spreading with cascading branchlets. You can go to www.mountainmaples.com. They have excellent staffs who can assist you to look for the right tree. I used to buy some trees from them and I was very satisfied with their service. Good luck. Bonhe
