How is the roof affixed?

Hello,
I think this is more like how the wall I am working on will come out, just without the little stone trim at the bottom. How is the topping affixed in this case, and where would one find such tiles?

Me again. I dont know how to attach it but here is the tile I dream about:

I will tell you that this tile is VERY expensive. As an alternative I am considering some faux thatch with bamboo. I am in a wildfire area and real thatch is to much of a risk here. The faux thatch is nearly as expensive as this roof tile.

Good luck.

By the way - are you considering a koi pond? I love mine.

Hello Again,
How much is expensive? The wall I am planning is to be quite large (encompassing three city lots). The embossed tiles are gorgeous, but if the tiles are so rediculously expensive, the entry way may be the only place that gets them. Many thanks for your input. Now I have to figure the joints for the entry gate. There simply are not enough pictures, and information on the construction of these things. I will post my designs when I get a chance. I am going to morter the tiles in place. -Werner J Stiegler

The journal of japanese gardening has a very good article with pictures and proper proportions in their June 2001 issue- I think they sell back issues, so try there for sure. I will post some helpful pics in the gallery section of this forum for you too.

Here is a link that might be useful: jouurnal of japanese gardens

Are those tiles concrete or metal? There are several concrete roof tile manufacturers who may have something that would work and perhaps be a bit more affordable.
And are you going to try to build a gate like that beautiful one in the picture? Wow!!

Hi
use copper nail, wire and mortal to hold foof tile.
roof tile is not made by concreat nor metal. Made by baked mud/clay.
Wall and gate like that need different well skilled craftman. carpenter, roofer and mason and stone mason.if base of post is covered with copper, another trademan needed/ sheet metal guy.
If carpenter has only 5~8 years experience, he won't able to make it. It is lot's hardener than you think.
