PLEASE tell me it isn't dying

I am REALLY worried.

My pride and joy looks like it is dying!!

I have raised my fireglow from when it was only 6 inches high to its present size of over six feet.

I am SO Worried about what is wrong with it now.

I have taken the best pictures that I can in this windy weather.

SOMETHING is wrong. Drooping and white spots everywhere!

I am NOT embarrassed to say this: I am a grown man but it is tearing my heart out seeing my baby dying and I Don't Know Why!!

I am fairly new to computers and I hope that the links to my pictures will work.

Here is the link to the album itself.

That one picture where the fireglow looks so pretty is from last year.
The others are now.

RE: PLEASE tell me it isn't dying

Not the clearest pictures I've ever seen. Use your thumbnail to scratch off a small amount of bark if green the tree is alive is not - i's not. If the tree is alive I suggest that you remove all the leaves and burn them if you can, then apply a Dormant oil.

Removing the pictures of your maple is an odd response to my offer of help mrclose. Were you expecting something else, I was?

Did a search on 'japanese maple white spots.' From AllExperts.com

You are here: Experts > Home/Garden > Roses > Plant Diseases > white spots on leaves of king crimson maple tree

Topic: Plant Diseases

Subject: white spots on leaves of king crimson maple tree

Question
Hi - we are in Oak Park, IL right outside of Chicago; our beautiful King Crimson maple tree has had white powdery-looking spots on the leaves most of the summer and continuing now. I have seen the same spots on other King Crimson trees in the area. The leaves and tree otherwise looks very healthy. What are the white spots, and are they a cause for concern? If so, what can be done to eliminate them? thanks

Answer
These are a leaf spot fungus and are not a real concern to the overall health of the tree. When the leaves fall rake them up and move them off the site. This will cut down on the amount of fungi spores that may infect next spring. IF you see the spots early in the spring you can spray the new leaves with a fungicide to protect them

I thought this post was about this forum. Japanese maples are prone to disease problems that can make them die back suddenly or dwindle away. Your best bet is to take samples of affected tissue to local Extension office or other source of information.
