Hybridizing Japanese Maples

How do you hybridize (cross) two Japanese maples? My maples are blooming, and I would like to cross a few just for fun.

Thanks,

K4

RE: Hybridizing Japanese Maples

If you are talking about two different Acer Palmatum cultivars, AP Shaina and AP Shin Desojo for instance, It really wouldn't be a hybrid as they are the same species. In fact They are all busy cross pollinating right now. It will just be an Acer Palmatum.
If you mean two seperate species like Acer Palmatum and Acer Buergerianum I suspose you would have see that each tree is pollinated only by the other tree. No other not even the tree itself.
Good Luck
