Bloodgood Maple not looking good.....

| Was wondering what you think. We planted a new bloodgood this year. Was wondering if it could just be the shock of planting it this spring. Also, how much water should I be giving it right now?
The leaves are changing colors & falling off. Here's a pic. What are your thoughts?

| You would have better luck posting to the Maples forum. However, it looks to me like your Bloodgood has leaf burn from too much sun. That's not unusual on newly planted Japanese maples, even for varieties like Bloodgood that can handle more sun. Make sure you are watering it enough and have it mulched. The leaves will look a little rough this year but should be fine next year when its roots are more established. |
