my shishigashira new branch tips drying up

My Lions head Japanese Maple appears to be dying slowly. The branch tips appeared to be drying up and dying from mid summer on through fall last year. This year it appears as though the problem is still present. Some of the new growth has started to dry up an wither already. All of the branches that were affected last year didn't have any new growth on them at all this year. I have since cut all of the dead branches off. Any help or suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated

RE: my shishigashira new branch tips drying up

I see this effect on my 'Bloodgood's when they get Verticillium wilt. A slow gradual die-back from the tip to the trunk. When you cut the dead branches, did you see areas of jet black or jet black partial circular rings? I hope you sterilized the blades after each cut. If you have V wilt, you can extend the life of the JM using a product I buy from Mountain Maples in California called Phyton 27. If you have V wilt in will remain in the soil almost forever and you'll need replant a V wilt resistant plant.
