Black Bamboo

My husband wants to plant 'black bamboo'. He says that unlike regular bamboo, it clumps and doesn't spread. He wants to plant them along a fence as a privacy screen. I'm Japanese and not so keen on this idea (he's not Japanese.) lol.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Miwa

RE: Black Bamboo

You can find both clumping, and running bamboo in black. The clumping type Bambusa lako, is fairly tropical. Phyllostachys nigra, is the running type and is pretty hardy.

Good luck.
