Tsukubai Photo Recommendations Please

I currently have a completely bare location in my back yard that I want to put a Japanese garden in. It measures a whopping 8 x 12 feet. I see several of you have been posting web sites containing photos of some large spectacular gardens. For example, the Bowdoin College and Rubens sites are amazing – acres and acres of breathtaking vistas. I’m having a hard time envisioning how to scale these down to my postage stamp location though so I’ve been searching for some web sites with lots of photos of Tsukubai, and haven’t had much luck.

Could some of you please recommend some web sites containing photos of small Japanese gardens? I just want some ideas. Thanks.

I'm constantly looking for the same thing. Maybe this picture is the sort of thing you're looking for - I took it one Sunday a few years ago when several Japanese style back yards here in Victoria were open to public view. There are also a few tsukubai pictures on a site (in German) - just scroll down till you get to 'tsukubai'. Image searches with Google and with Excite may help too.

Wow, Herb. If you don’t have a variety of sites, no one does. I did several webs searches and found little.

I guess I’ll try plan B, which is to provide photos of my acreage and throw myself at the mercy of the group. I was going to do this anyway.

Please post an overview of your site, and I can try to make a layout for you... I enjoy designing smaller gardens much more than my own "big" garden ;) lol.
