Please help identify a veggie

| Hello,
I just returned from a trip to Japan, and I had a few meals that had some sort of vegetable that looked like a scallion but had a red stem and tasted something like ginger. Would anyone know what that may have been? |

| Judging from the month of your post, it was likely Ginger shoot. A delicious pickle is also made from this late spring ginger shoot. |

| You are thinking of myoga. It has a very distinct flavor and aroma. I guess similar to ginger. Google, resulted in some searches calling it Myoga ginger. |
