I live in pensacola fl. and wanted to know if i could plant a new japanese maple in mid-september when temps cool off a bit. I know spring planting is best, but can I get away with it?
Also can you grow them as houseplants? thnks

RE: planting japanese maple in the fall?

Actually, fall (after it loses its leaves) is better than spring for planting. It has all winter to stretch out its roots. I can't answer the question about growing them as houseplants - I have no idea. Are you thinking of bonsai?
