Was asked about on Conifers forum. Anyone have a translation for the cultivar name, that might hint at characteristics, or know the cultivar and what it is like anyway?
Gin is supposed to mean silver, setsu can be temple or several other things.
^^ if you show me kanji,then I can help you. Newly created japanese plants name is hard to understand unles you have writen in kanji. Setsu is my mother name.^^ yama

Hi Tom Gin = silver "setus" may be mean "band". "node". "strip" something like that. Difinitely not affter my mother name. ^^. I check with my friend who has better knowlege of Japanese plants Than I am and have much more Japanese plat/tree ID refference books. Red pine and black pine have many cutivars . some has blight red strip/band, yellow band.etc.
