| Herb, Santa really did his stuff for us this year, snow actually fell on Christmas Day, the north of England is blanketed in the white stuff. (for those of you who are'nt aware this really is a rare event here) best wishes, Graham |

| Evelyn - Yes, it's the 'Herb' garden a couple of winters ago - though this last summer the big, domed shrub (an Escallonia) had started to obstruct the paths & was cut down to a few, low , bare branches. Now it's filling in really fast, but it's going to be kept smaller. Thanks for the Boxing Day wish - it's my birthday too! Herb |

| Nice picture Herb! Is that a 'Cripsii Hinoki? The 25th was my brother's birthday also. Sadly he died in Khe Sanh, Viet Nam on Good Friday, 1978. Easter isn't the same. |

| BT - It's a Chamaecyparis obtusa - ( Hinoki False Cypress). Perhaps that's the same thing? Sadness lingers longer when it happens on special days like Good Friday. An aunt of mine was killed on Christmas Eve 1953. December 24th this year (2004) was the first time that I forgot about it. H. |

| It looks like we actually only heard from netgardenweb, that last one from Herb is dated Thu, Dec 30, 04. Has it been that long since he (and others) were posting here all the time? |
