Does anyone have good recommendations for resources (web-sites, books) on making Japanese garden ornament? If it includes theory regarding usage that would be a benefit/bonus.
I would like to try to make a simple fountain, deer chaser and perhaps a simple fence from bamboo that is on my property. I have several books and have read several library books that have examples but no specifics on making these. I have visited the Humes strolling gardens here on Long Island for many years as well as Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Innisfree (Chinese, cup style) Garden and others. I am an avid plant collector and enthusiastic gardener but that is the extent of my knowlege of Japanese gardens.
Thanks George! The tour of your garden was amazing and the info on the deer chaser (Shishi-Odishi) is much appreciated. You really put your heart and soul into that incredible garden!
I cut some bamboo to the lengths I need from some I had been letting cure since Sept. This weekend I'll try to put something together based on the info I've been able to gather.
Checked the Hypertufa forum as you suggested kobold, didn't find much on bamboo :o(
