No really; Just how long can a koi survive transit?

Guys I have a problem.

Today I was suppose to accept delivery of a koi from a koi farm in Texas. The lady there shipped the fish from just outside the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. She used USPS Express Mail on Thursday (yesterday 8 am). She sent me the tracking number. I woke up after a restless night (new fish coming) and sat down to the computer to follow the tracking. Last recording was "11:30 PM Dallas.." Check again a couple hours later "11:30 PM Dallas.." USPS overnight states By noon.

At noon I emailed Koi Farm. "No fish. Last post: "11:30 PM Dallas.." She wrote back hour later "tracked fish. So sorry fish will be delivered tomorrow(Sat.)I never will USPS Again" (Now she decides this). She says fish is very healthy, keep her posted, full refund if things turn out bad. (Positive thinking please)

My Question Now:

If packaged right and in good conditions/environment stable; realistically how long can a koi survive boxed up? This fish has been boxed for 38-40 hours as of now,by my calcs.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. Just straight talk please.

I guess this is an under used site. Well the fish made it and is resting comfortable.
