Pond Fix SOS

We bought a house with pond a couple of years ago, about 550 gals. It is 32" deep and was built with vertical sides, which are bulging inward and threatening to collapse. The top edge is sloping and edging stones sliding into it. The liner was trimmed very close, only about a foot overlaps the top edge and less at points, so it appears that the wrong stress will pull the liner into the pond and flood it with earth from the sides. That's not all. Along one edge, the builder actually undercut the corner of the garage foundation for about 2 feet, so the corner of the garage is cantilevered over the edge of the pond by a few inches. Despite this mess, we have been keeping water quality good with regular testing, new pump/filter & using plants & salt, and the fish are active & healthy. Is it possible to fix this site--perhaps by filling & compacting the hole, then replacing with a smaller preformed pond liner? Or should we fill this site and move the pond to a new site, digging fresh ground and doing it properly this time? Thanks so much for your advice.
