Pond plant question

| Hello,
This is my first post here and I hope someone has an idea. I bought 2 nice looking Polly alocasia (called amizonica too I think.) I would like to have them grow in my Bio-logical filter that is located in a mostly shady area. The care-tag says that they grow best in moist soil but I dont know if putting them in water that reaches the top of or about 3 inches from the top of the pot will kill them. I have one black magic ele ear that is doing well submerged so I have placed one of the "pollys" I bought in the water of the filter, but if anyone here can save me from killing it if it does not like that type of condition I would appreciate it! Also will this plant overwinter in the ground or pond ok near Savannah Ga?
Thanks for the help!!! |

Alocasia are not meant to be grown in water---they like moist soil but, not constantly wet...if you want to grow taro in the water get a Colocasia they can be grown in the water just fine and there are lots of varieties of them...and probably would survive overwintering outside....I have a couple that over winter here and I'm in zone 7a....
