Crossing Butterfly Koi and Regular Koi

We just started our new koi pond and introduced three large koi -- two males and one female. The female is a butterfly; one male is a regular variety and the smaller male is a butterfly. Spawning occurred one week after introducing the koi. At what age will we be able to tell which fry are butterfly versus regular koi?

RE: Crossing Butterfly Koi and Regular Koi

Because of mixed up genetics, some will have long fins early on, some will just have fins that are a little long (and this may not be apparent until they are much older) and some will have short fins. The problem is that the body shapes may be screwed up too. Longfins do not have the same bodies that regular koi have so you may get some short finned koi with weak bodies and some long finned koi with heavy bdies.
