| "Koi clay" is montmorillite clay, which is the same clay used in scoopable kitty litter. Finding scoopable litter that is pure clay, with no deoderants or perfumes isn't easy. I buy Shaw's (grocery store) brand, and in the past have used it to pot up aquatic plants. Now, I just use peastone though, and use my leavings from the kitty box to improve the sandy soil in my perennial beds. (they say not to use it in veggies because of possible bad germs in the kitty poop). I'm sure people will jump right in and let me know if I have been massively misinformed, haha!! (and that is a good thing!) |

i potted all of my plants using oil-dri which is also 100% clay but it doesnt break down and become suspended in the water like actual powder bentonite clay will, so i dont think that kitty litter will give the effect that im after, thanks though

| this is for potting plants and keeping the koi out of the roots right?? cause I use lava rocks...the kind you get for you barbeques. It works perfectly and plus it lets the roots go into the holes and they have lots of nutrients for the plants. they are also pretty cheap, for a bag (7 lbs) its about 1-4 $ depending on when you buy them. |
