| I have inherited a koi pond with the house we bought.
What is the blue filter material that is in the pump box? I've looked on the internet but can't find what it is. Also, how "clean" is this material supposed to be? And is there a way to clean it if it is supposed to be squeaky clean? Thanks |

| I don't know what you mean by below the filter media, but this is exactly it. I know how it goes into the pump box, but is this supposed to be cleaned off? The pond was sitting with nasty water in it, so this blue thing got a little bit of debris on it & in it. |

| Yes, you periodically clean it off with the hose. |
