Koi hiding during the day

Hello,
I recently had a large pond installed. 21' x 21' x 4' deep. The pond is about a month old and I have put 7 koi and 3 goldfish in it. All fish are about 5". The fish are only coming out at night when the underwater lights are on and seem to be feasting on the bugs attracted to the light. Is this normal? Should I turn off the lights and "starve' them into coming out during the day? The fish have been in the pond for 3 weeks and I want to be able to SEE them. TIA,
Maureen

"I recently had a large pond installed. 21' x 21' x 4' dee" Thats why your Koi are hiding, give em a few months, maybe even wait till the population increses and you have more to see, I owuld imagine that a 21X21 pond would not provide good viewing for 10 5" fish even if they were bold, they would probably only come when you brought out food.
