I am very new to the hobby of ponds. I purchased a home in July with somewhere between a 4,000 to 5,000 gallon pond (depending on which expert I've asked.) The previous owner had two dozen LARGE gorgeous Koi, which I could have kept for $20,000 more for the house. I refused. He removed and left me with a dozen really ugly ones. I purchased several of shibunkins (unsure of spelling) just because they were so pretty. I followed directions for releasing into pond. The pond store I use quarantines before he sells so I was confident they were healthy. I never saw them alive again. What happened. We found their little carcasses at bottom of pond about a week later. George at Aquatic Connections ( a very well-respected pond place in our area) insists that the other fish would not have eaten them. We have large frogs. Could they have done the dastardly deed? It seems that if a bird did it, I wouldn't have the little skeletons still in the pond? Any ideas. Thanks in advance.
