Also some pond web sites have size/calculators for pumps and such. Also your year round weather will be a factor, Sun, Shade.. I think www.123ponds.com has some helpful info on pumps and filters. I would also consider saving yourself some money and build the filter yourself if possible. I did using a 30US GAL. rubber can and some PVC connections. The Media is a fishnet laundry bag filled with 1 inch cut rubber plastic pipe that you might use for a basement sump pump.
I know my pump has double the water capacity and I have a single 18Watt UV lamp for 1200 US Gallons.
