Cracked Rain Gauge In Freeze -Solution

Posted by rogjack6112 TN (My Page) on

I have heard that conical plastic guages don't crack when freezing. What do you think?
I have added an inch in volume of bubble wrap to my plastic gauges and it seems to protect them from cracking when it freezes. (THe increase volume of freezing is 8-9%).
In the spring I just remove the bubble wrap strips.
Try it and let me know Roger /Nashville rogjack6112@comcast.net

Will I get slapped if I suggest duct tape?
