 o
waterbed heater

I was given a waterbed heater to start seeds on. My question is this: I plan on putting the heater on a metal shelf. Should I put something under it and should I put a pad or metal shelf over it before I put my pots on it. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.

RE: waterbed heater

The waterbed heaters I am familiar with require that there be seperation between the thermometer and the heater. They also require contact with a large water bearing surface in order to disperse the heat properly. I would certainly be careful about any surfaces it is in contact with. I don't know if this is safely doable without a waterbed.
