Using Wind Blown Soil

flavio

I live in a semi-arid part of Southeastn Colorado and we just experienced a terrable fire along the river bottom which spread to prarie areas near irrigated land. The fire was fueled with strong winds which burned some of the unculivated areas to bear ground. The vegetation that was there held many years of what we call "Blow Dirt" for lack of a technical term. After a day of so with the winds still blowing strongly, the "Bar-Ditches" (the ditches along the roads) are becomming filled with this wind blown dirt. I was wondering if I could load some of this soil up and spread it on my garden. Anyone ever do this? I was thinking this was all top soil which might benefit my garden. Your thoughts please.
