recap acer seeds

Hi
It must be confession time,
Re my posting in feb04 the Acer seed in aluminium foil did not work.I even bought seed from 'Jackies' said to have been already stratified for up to a year, received at the end of feb left in fridge as directed until the end of march then planted in the greenhouse.
I think it was six varieties of Acer only one had any germination at all Acer Burgeramium had about 3% germination,I suspect such a common variety would have germinated without any stratification.
Still on the quest for the Acer holy grail.
I cannot get gib acid so I am trying to think up any other ideas, soak in hormone? bleach? etc
any ideas?
Regards
Len

RE: recap acer seeds

Len,

Did you know JH Hudsen Seeds in Cal. sells GA3? I found his info in a NARGS journal. If you can't find him on the NARGS website or google, I can look it up tomorrow and send you the mailing address & $$ information.

BTW - I've tried twice to germinate Acer seeds I got from Thompson Morgan and after 2-3 cycles through the refridgerator & warm, I had one germinate. I did not try GA3.

Thanks
Tam

I am not associated with this person. But I did buy the
