hi all i am thinkin of a way to mulch a large area like 100'x100'. i wanted to know about round bails of hay, are they just full of weed seeds or could one be placed at the end of a row and rolled out to make instant mulched bed. i see them rotting away in fields with no weeds in them?????

Weed seeds and seeds of the hay...alfalfa or clover or whatever. I sure wouldn't.

I learned the hard lesson of using "hay" when what I really wanted was "straw". Building contractors use a lot of straw to absorb water during rainy seasons at their building sites. I've had no problems with weeds using the straw.
