Aluminum...or copper for ivy support

I want to try and make a long vertical border...like a fence and have ivy cover it. I want to keep it at about 2 feet high. I am trying to figure out what structure/material would hold it up, as well as be able to work with it...and have a long duration (not rusting...bending or warping). If the ivy covers it well enough, the actual look of the structure wont matter so much. So far the only can come up with aluminum...like buy some aluminum pipe..strong enough to be able to bend it or cut it, in order to actually make the piece, or copper could work too right? Which would be better?

Have you considered wood? Could be neat like a picket fence or utility simply placing rows of tree prunings where needed. Ivy will conceal it in no time.
