| I want to make a monument that basically has a water reservoir underground , with a pump, that pumps the water up a 24 inch column, and through a ball, about the size of a bowling ball and allows the water to trickle over the ball and back down to the reservoir. Any suggestions/plans?? |

| No plans but it sounds like a neat modern fountain. You have described it so perfectly that it seems only a matter of finding the right materials to construct it. You could use a 24" clay or cement cylinder and a bowling ball which I'm sure a bowling alley would drill for you. All you need is a striaght hole through its center. When you get it done, post a pic, it sounds neat. |

Great idea...I have made them using a preformed plastic pond as the water reservoir..You will need block or brick to support your column in the center of the reservoir. I have made them covered with expanded metal(like a very heavy guage screen), with riverstone covering all the metal so that it just looks like a gravel area...no visible water source. You will have to add water regularly to account for evaporation and would also recommend adding bleach or an algaecide regularly. As far as your column goes, I have seen nice ones of stone that were bored with a small diameter hole all the way through for 1/2" tubing. A large stone supplier in NWest Ohio has boring equipment to accomplish it...maybe someone over your way can do it also Fred |
