Mmm. I'd be tempted to fake it out with a chopped up 2-liter bott

That would be kind of tacky, but hey, it would probably work.

Hey tacky they are, but I have been using plastic 2 and 3-Liter bottles for a wile to start some of my seeds but nothing seems to work as good as those plastic eggs, especially for starting palm tree seeds. I place one of those little compressed pellets in the egg and man these eggs work good! ("(pellets) you know the ones that you add water to and they expands to about 1 inch")
I have some of the other little miniature greenhouses, and they do work, but not near as fast as the plastic eggs. Germination is always 1 or 2 weeks faster ...so it seems. I only have 3 eggs if I had more I could make a proper test. But so far nothing seems to out due them :)

It's sort of a touristy thing. I've seen them here in AZ but heard of them in places like Death Valley. I would think they would be in Texas too, maybe check out the tourist spots in your area?

Last year WalMart sold egg shaped squash seeds in these, but I dont know if they are selling them again this year but if they were you could get the company name from the box. I would send you mine but my youngest is trying to grow peeps in it right now. Becky

I'd check the grocery store around Easter, myself. Look in the candy aisle and I think you'll find clear plastic eggs filled with candy. Remove candy and use a hot nail to put holes in the top of the egg. Voila, mini greenhouse.

I just flew thru Phx yesterday and saw them in a store at the airport which I bought t-shirts at. The receipt for the store has a phone number 602-273-6114, call and get your info from them or order a few. The stores name is Desert Gardens.

Check the Dollar Tree around Easter. I got mine there last year. Colored bottom and clear top. Perfect for germinating seeds or mini terrarium.
