We are all thinking of you still

Just wanted to say that. There are so many of us here in Florida that went through that horrid year last year and are really carrying all of you in our hearts. If it seems we are intruding on your forum, I'm sorry, but personally, I'm stuck here in Florida with no other way to help, and feeling helpless, like I want to do something.

I know this isn't much, but I hope you know that there are so many people out here who are with you in our hearts.

Right there with you Bruggirl....I feel helpless also, and wish there was something more important I could do besides offer plants to people who have so many other things on their minds right now....

I have relatives on the MS coast that seem to go through one trial after another. Most of their stuff, and about half of their plants are ok. Now their dealing with a landlord that wants them out immediately, so he can rent their house for 3+ times what they're paying. We all know he can't do that, but he won't even give them until the 26th of this month (until they can get a rental truck), without causing some sort of grief every day.

There are many more people out there going through much worse situations, but when it's your own family, it really kills you not being down there to help. Sorry for ranting & crying here....

I really appreaciate you asking for the conversation forum here. At least we can discuss everything now, without talking plants, and know our posts won't be pulled...

That's horrible about your family! I'd be making him evict me, which could take months.

It's so sad how some people take advantage of a bad situation and hurt other people. After Hugo, people were selling water for $10 a gallon. We got some of them arrested, but people were desperate, and they were paying it.

Florida has gouging laws now, because of the crap that happened after Andrew. Unfortunately, during such a crisis as Katrine, the law enforcers have so much on them, that they don't have time to really enforce things like that.

Thanks for the kind words ya'll....I'll be heading down there in a couple of days to help them finish packing. They told me today that the casinos will be "imploded" in the next few days, since there's no other way to get them off 90. On that note, are you all aware that some of the casinos are giving their employees NOTHING, which is very surprising to hear given the amount of $$'s they were bringing in every day. Makes me wonder how many stories like that we don't hear about.

Has anyone else that frequents this forum decided to move?
