Unusual Vegetables

I have decided to try to grow a series of different vegetables. By different I mean stuff not normally seen or sold in the local garden centers.

I was at one of my local plant/garden centers today (NOT a big box store). They have great buys on good quality seeds. I could not even find bok choy. The manager said they carry those seeds that most people ask for.. which I assume are the garden "staples".

At the produce section of a grocery store, I found malanga- a root sort of like tarro. Nice looking plants but a root that is good to eat. I also found sunchokes (Jerusalem artichokes). Pretty expensive by the pound but as I cut up a root that looked a little like ginger, I tasted it. It had a pleasant taste.

I'm now on the lookout for different type veggies/fruits.
