HI all, hope everyone had a good holiday. I need help with the I D of my passalong tree. We always called it a cherry but now thank it its a plum. The tree is short lived and very ornamental. The leaves are a beautiful red purple and it has great white flowers in early spring. I will be planting healthy sprouts with lots of attached dirt. I'll try and post a photo on the i d page.

Can I plant them now? I'm 60 miles from the Gulf and will treat then right. Thanks for the help.

That sure looks like a purple plum.

Now, it's most likely a purple sandcherry. If it is one that fruits, the fruits are about twice the size of a typical cherry and are dark purple/black. They are tart but tasty.
If it's not....well, it has nice flowers. Here is a link.
