 o
spring bud and foliage report

Here in northeast MS I am seriously looking for spring, but it's still cold 25 to 40 degrees today. Most mornings, all outside water in birdbaths etc is frozen. I do now see a few patches of daff and/or daylilly foliage coming up. But not all my daffs so I'm worried that the vole(s) have ate the bulbs, as my yard is full of tunnels, which I've never had before in the 4 yrs I've lived here. Too bad my dtr is allergic to cats, we need one.
My Bradford pear trees (2 in backyard) are all full of flower buds. And if I look closely, the young redbud and dogwood have small buds. The japanese maples very slightly starting leaf buds. The quince has had buds for a little while already, today I see small leaves! Also the roses have signs of new growth. COME ON SPRING!

RE: spring bud and foliage report

since they are calling for 3 to 6 inches of snow tomorrow night, I'm just cringing. My snowdrops and paperwhites are blooming, lot's of budding and new growth on my roses. I am so ready for spring, and so not ready for snow and ice. I still don't know what I've lost from the last round of freezing temps. Even plants that were well covered are brown and dead looking.
