Vines for porch posts

I live in Pride, LA and I am looking for a good flowering vine that will wrap around my porch posts (cypress 10x10) but not become overbearing, or tear up my house. I would also like something that can withstand possible cold winters.

Clematis. Passiflora. Honeysuckle (not the wild one). Some or all of these might not wrap around the column by itself but would need a netting or twine to twirl tendrils around. You would have to check how each of these climb. You could also pillar a climbing rose, for recommendations I would refer you to the Antique Rose Emporium, you can find them online.

Purple hyacinth bean germinates and grows fast. It has beautiful flowers and the purple bean pods last for weeks. I have it climbing a post on my front porch. If you want some seed, email me and I'll be glad to share!
