info on 8-8-8 plant food

| has anyone ever used something called 8-8-8 plant food,if so how often do you use it and what do you think of it. |

| 8-8-8 is a pretty common formulation for fertilizer, often used I think for vegetable gardening. My husband used it for his grapes. Comes I'm sure in various price ranges and brands. Just means it has eight percent (I guess!) each of the 'big three' components--NPK or Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potash. Personally I use mostly as much organic matter as I can get--grass clippings, leaves, pine straw, etc.--and when I get around to use other fertilizers I prefer something with minor elements too, preferably organic (but the plants don't care!) (Soil and soil-dwelling organisms probably do.) |
